With experience on the highest level of quality and knowledge on most meteorological parameters we are often consulted on airport / helipad meteorological systems. No matter the size or category of an airport or helipad, weather data is a crucial part of safe operation and therefore mandatory. The Observator meteorological equipment is renowned for their reliability and high accuracy and therefore often used on airports and helipads. Many smaller airfields / helipads depend on the standard Observator wind sensors and display units which are specially designed for these applications. Also larger, international airports on which more parameters such like RVR and cloud base are required can be handled with our product range. Moreover using OMC-Data-OnLine weather data can be distributed and presented on those locations where this information is required. Validated weather forecasting may be presented as well. The airport and helipad market is a growing market for Observator.

OMC-140 Multifunctional TFT Display
The OMC-140 is the new self designed and developed multifunctional TFT Display of Observator. Wherever you need to visualize your critical measurement information on a dedicated instrument the OMC-140 can be applied. Whether it is presenting wind information or indication of other meteorological parameters, the OMC-140 is the ideal instrument. Due to its modular design, the OMC-140 may also act as an intelligent signal converter. Further the unit is provided with a memory card slot, in case the OMC-140 should act as a basic data logger as well. The unit is also provided with a LAN interface in order to have your information available within your network and is provided with bus-connectors to create a multiple indication and I/O network.

OMC-141 ATIS System
The OMC-141 Automatic Terminal Information Service, or ATIS, is a continuous broadcast of recorded noncontrol Weather information for unmanned Airfields and helicopterdecks, Offshore or Wind Energy platforms. The System broadcasts essential Weather information like, Wind information, Air Temperature, Humidity, Barometric Pressure QFH and QNH, Visibility, Present Weather and any other information required by the pilots. Helicopter pilots usually listen to an available ATIS broadcast before the final approach, in order have a safe landing on the Platform. The Heli Pilot can, by using the VHF radio, request the actual Weather information (by automatic voice message) from the unmanned Station. The System also has the possibility to control the Helideck Lights from the Helicopter by using a standard VHF Radio.
MeteoLink
MeteoLink is a new concept from Observator for the interconnection of meteorological and hydrological sensors. As professionals within this field, you are aware that each sensor requires its own specific installation location to achieve its optimal performance. Recommendations on sensor locations are also given and recommended by organizations such as the WMO and the CAA. MeteoLink provides the opportunity to be compliant with these installation recommendations and also offers the flexibility to use a chain of sensors also allows all measurement devices and sensors , within the chain, to be individually field replaceable, resulting in a lower cost of ownership.
CBME80B Cloud Ceilo Meter
The cloud ceilometer CBME 80 is a stand-alone instrument designed for fixed and mobile installations where accurate and reliable cloud height information is required. The design is based on the LIDAR principle. The light emitting component is a low power diode laser with the output power limited to an eye-safe level. Real time digitizing technique is employed in signal detection and the powerful microprocessor is used in signal processing.
OMC-150 Intrinsically safe Wind System
The OMC-150 is an Intrinsically Safe combined wind speed and direction sensor, based on the cup and vane principle. To complete the Intrinsically safe wind system the OMC-158-II is available. A DIN rail mounted Zener barrier and interface module. Further an Eex junction box is available as OMC-156. Using a sin/cos potentiometer wind direction is measured without a dead-band, while speed is measured using a proximately switch and a code cap. The wind sensor is made from stainless steel and comes with a mounting arm which can be clamped to a mast using two U-Bolts.The Zener barrier and interface module is provided with a R422, NMEA output which can be set as 4800 or 9600 baud and can include a VER message as well.
BTD-350 Thunderstorm (Lightning) Detector
The BTD-350 Marine Thunderstorm Detector has been designed specifically for use in the marine and Offshore environment. Its structure has been strengthened to withstand the rigours aboard large vessels with all surfaces coated with a marine grade painting system. The BTD-350 reliably detects the presence of all forms of lightning, out to a range of 83km. The unique quasielectrostatic operating principle gives the detector a very low false alarm rate and the unique ability to warn of the risk of overhead lightning, even before the lightning has started. Virtually maintenance free, the BTD-350 can operate with the supplied PC display software, seamlessly integrate into sophisticated weather monitoring systems or directly activate local warning lights or sounders by optional warning relays.
OMC-160 Wind Speed & Direction Sensor
The popular and often used wind sensor OMC-160 is a combined wind speed and direction sensor, based on the cup and vane principle. Having chosen for the highest quality stainless steel materials and internal non-contact measuring devices, this sensor stands for a long life time, having the highest accuracies within both the low range as well as the high range wind speeds. This sensor is commonly used within the shipping and offshore industry but can also be found on many airfields, container terminals and harbours, along highways and on bridges.
